A B O U T

It all began in a madrone tree. Future trapezists Ben Wendel and Rachel Nehmer met as biology students at Haverford College.  After a successful stint as lab partners, the couple decided to try out a new kind of collaboration--this time in the air! In 2004 Rachel and Ben relocated to Seattle, where they spent several years developing their trapeze number at the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts before deciding to permanently retire from science.

Duo Madrona's stunning duet has been featured in Seattle and San Francisco at Teatro Zinzanni's famed spiegeltent dinner show. Other appearances include Seattle's Moisture Festival, Circus Flora, the Banana Moon Circus, and the prestigious 29th Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris. The duo's unique story has been covered by KUOW's Sound Focus, NPR's Morning Edition, Radio France International, and Seattle Magazine, to name a few.
